Mountains Come Down
“Who are you, oh great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain.” (Zechariah 4:7 NKJV)
Are you facing a mountain in your life? Some problem, discouragement, fear, besetting sin?
The leader of the Jews returning from Babylonian captivity was facing his own mountain, and God sent the prophet Zechariah to tell the mountain to come down; but the message to governor Zerubbabel was clear: “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord” (Zechariah 4:6).
He wants to say the same to you and me today. Mountains and obstacles are nothing to our great God, but our reliance can’t be in our own strength or our own devices or the arm of flesh. For everything God does for his people is through his Holy Spirit, and he alone gets the glory.
Let’s trust him to bring down our mountains so that instead of overwhelming us, they will become by God’s power a level highway to get us where he wants us to be.
