Mountains and Valleys
“…but the land that you are about to enter is a land of mountains and valleys, a land watered by rain. The Lord your God takes care of this land and watches over it throughout the year. “ (Deuteronomy 11:11-12 GNT)
The land God promised to Israel is also an accurate picture, of sorts, of our individual lives. The land had mountains in it that had to be crossed. Anyone can easily walk on level ground but climbing mountains is challenging, hard work. It causes fatigue and often involves danger. It also was a land of valleys. These could be lonely places often blocked out from the sun and its warmth. Don’t we all face challenging mountains and difficult valleys as we live out our lives? But God provided that cooling, refreshing rain—a symbol of the Holy Spirit—would be sent by his hand. Praise the Lord! No matter what you have to climb over or walk through today, remember this: greater is he that is in you than any difficulty that will come against you.
