Are You a Fair-Weather Believer?
“Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands..” (Deuteronomy 8:2 NIV)
Hardships and difficulties in our lives are permitted by God for several reasons. They test our devotion to Christ so that it can be seen whether we are only fair-weather believers or totally devoted no matter the trials we face. Many quit and give up their faith when the going gets tough. But God also uses trials to increase our faith. Our trust in him is dear to his heart, and the resistance we face in life strengthens our faith even as lifting weights builds up more muscle mass in our arms. Let’s use our difficulties today as opportunities to grow in faith. Bring it all to Jesus!
