The Secret of Self Control
“In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.” (Philippians 4:8 GNT)
Christ wants to control, not just our hearts and bodies by his presence, but also our minds. We will all have thoughts suggested to us today—some good and wholesome, others negative and ungodly. The secret of self-control is not merely fighting against certain things, but rather having our minds filled with good thoughts, which leave no room for un-Christlike ones. They may knock on the door, but we can resist them best when our minds are occupied with right, lovely, and pure thoughts.
Jesus, control and fill our minds today!
