Thanking Him for What We Have
“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.” (Matthew 14:19 NIV)
Sometimes God does his greatest work when we thank him for what we have instead of complaining about what we don’t have. When they offered Jesus the five loaves of bread and two fish to feed five thousand people, he didn’t grumble, saying, “What am I supposed to do with this small amount of food?” Instead, he gave thanks and broke the bread; and everyone had enough to eat. A miracle happened when Jesus gave thanks for what had been provided.
May this be our example today, as we ask God to help us focus not on what’s not happening in our lives, but on what he has already done. As we do this with grateful hearts, we will be sure to see God do wonderful things in our lives and in the lives of those we love.
