“Continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18 GNT)
In a normal environment, biological life grows naturally; but this is not true in the spiritual life. Just because a person is born again does not mean that he or she will automatically have spiritual growth. And if you don’t grow, you can actually regress. In fact, a person can be meaner, gossip more and have less prayer in their life after twenty years than when they first began their Christian walk. How then can you grow? You need to spend time with the Lord, read his Word, pray, meditate, worship, have fellowship with other Christians, and use the gifts God has given you. And it’s not enough to just open the Bible. Sadly, some people have the Bible without the author of the Bible! As you are studying the Word, you have to get your heart in touch with Jesus so that he can change you from the inside out. Allow God to do that, beginning today, so you can grow and be “mature and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:4).
