Have You Failed the Lord?
“After they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these others do?’” (John 21:15 GNT)
Peter had failed the Lord miserably. After having insisted in a cocky manner that he would die for the Lord, he cursed when Jesus was arrested and denied he even knew him. The Bible says that when Peter realized what he had done, he wept bitterly.
When you crash like Peter did, you need a special visitation from Jesus, so he can tell you, “I love you; keep believing and follow me.” Brothers and sisters, like Peter, we have to remember that Jesus is alive! If you have failed him, he wants to pick you up and tell you that he still loves you in spite of what you’ve done. Don’t let your failure or your bottoming out diminish your trust in Christ. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us…” (1 John 1:9) He’s forgiven you. Now forgive yourself and move on, because God loves you with an unconditional and everlasting love.
