Used of God
“In a large house there are dishes and bowls of all kinds… Those who make themselves clean from all those evil things will be used for special purposes, because they are dedicated and useful to their Master, ready to be used for every good deed.” (2 Timothy 2:20-21 GNT)
Many of us long to be used by God, but mistakenly feel that this can only be done if we are standing before a group of people ministering the Word on a Sunday morning. But that is not true! God can use us going down the street or in a diner or in our school or work place! Further, God uses us in different ways in different seasons of our lives. The busy mother picking up her children at school may find herself being used of the Lord to encourage another harried mom she may run into there; a college student may have the unique opportunity to reach his classmates with the gospel in that special time of his life; an elderly grandparent may be used by God to intercede for his or her grandchildren and for others.
What God is looking for is not our ability, but our availability. So no matter the circumstances surrounding us or the season of life in which we find ourselves, let’s say with the prophet Isaiah, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8 NIV) And leave the rest to God!
