When God Has Blessed – Part 2

Tuesday, August 8, 2017

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.” (Numbers 23:19 NIV)

The people of Israel in the Old Testament were not even washed in the blood of Christ, and they were obstinate; but they were God’s people.  So when an enemy of Israel asked a prophet to curse them, and this strange prophet went back and forth on what to do, he finally had to say, “God is not a man that he should lie… he has blessed, and I cannot change it”!

God is saying the same about his people today, and he is not a man that he should lie.  If God has spoken into your life and told you that he’s going to use you, that he’s going to bring back a wayward child, that he’s going to provide what you need in your finances, would you please receive that word from the Lord?

Is God going to speak something into your heart and then take it back?  “Does he speak and then not act?”  No, but we have to live in faith!  We have to receive God’s word and hold on to it.  The devil will fight you for it; but you have to resist the enemy of your soul, saying, “No, you’re not taking that promise from me!  God gave me that promise, and he’s not a man that he should lie!”  That’s what spiritual warfare is about.

So are you going to hang on to God, or are you going to hang on to how you feel?  Are you going to hang on to God’s promises, or are you going to hang on to what some friend or relative tells you, or what you see around you?  That would so dishonor God!  I don’t want that in my life; I want everything the Lord has for me!  Will it be without a fight?  Of course not!  Will the enemy try to block it?  Yes, but what else is new?  It’s a fight… but that means we have to fight!  We can’t feel sorry for ourselves or play the victim.  We’re children of God!  We belong to the king!  We have to say, with the apostle, “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)!

Brothers and sisters, we have to be strong in faith.  We have to be fearless, and we have to hold on to what God has for us!  “The righteous are bold as a lion,” the Bible says.  So if you’re downtrodden today, get up!  Arise… March… Do it… Stand up for God!  Claim what God has shown you for your life.  If you feel you’re not what you should be, let God take care of that.  If you’ve sinned, God’s Word tells you to confess your sins, and he will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

Stop looking at the negatives, and start looking at how great God is.  When he has blessed, no one – not the devil, not anyone – can change it!

To be continued…

Read Numbers 23:11-20.
